On tomorrow, delighted to welcome Visiting Scholar @yingying.jiang123 who will present an overview of Chinese animation. All students welcome. Spring 12/03/23 (A4, ink, graphite, coloured pencil) Mindful drawing workshop I ran with Kalie Jade at QUEERCIRCLE on Saturday. This 2.5 hour session drew on meditation and performance techniques to create drawings collaboratively as a group. Markmaking was used as a somatic tool to explore emotion, muscle memory and develop mindfulness. We aimed to foster a nurturing environment in which drawing could be joyful, the inner critic could be silenced and new connections made! Down to the bone (A4, ink, charcoal, pastel) 6/3/23 Our book, Performance Drawing: New Practices Since 1945 (Bloomsbury) just got reprinted in paperback again! It sold out 4 print runs of the hardbacks and this is the third reprint of the paperback edition. Going like hot cakes - do you have your copy yet?? A good day Drawn to one another: want to meet new friends in a creative environment? Next Saturday I’m running a workshop on mindful drawing with Kalie Jade at QUEERCIRCLE. No previous experience of drawing is required as the emphasis will be on meditative markmaking and free expression. This is an inclusive workshop welcoming those who define as Queer women+ (LBTQ). Book here: http://Sapphicspiritmindfuldrawing.eventbrite.co.uk. Link in bio. Thrilled to announce that UCA is offering a fully funded PhD in diversifying/decolonising animation, a topic that is open to a wide range of interpretations. Research perspectives based in practice are welcome. Deadline 17th April. For more details search on jobs.ac.uk. And if this topic is of interest, keep your eyes peeled for further details of our forthcoming symposium on May 18th. I was caught drawing today by @clairezakiewicz! Lovely afternoon drawing together. Thanks, Claire! Xx
